The Crestview FCCLA chapter had their first member meeting of the 2015-2016 school year on Monday. FCCLA, or Family, Career, Community Leaders of America, organizes multiple events throughout the year, and this year there will be a few new activities to look forward to. “First, we are doing a Retro Prom. This will be a fun dance where you wear an outfit that can’t have cost more than ten dollars, so you can use clothes you already have or go to a thrift shop and plan a wacky outfit!” Said FCCLA President, Brady Guest. “Second, we are doing a Veteran’s Day service day which we are planning with the grades 6-12 history teachers.”

The fall sports teams have been working hard since they began practicing in August. Last Friday, the football team defeated Wayne Trace 51-30, moving the Knights to 2-1. Tomorrow, they begin conference play at Columbus Grove at 7 p.m. The cross country team runs at Ottawa Glandorf Blue/Gold Invitational on Saturday. “I’m looking forward to running at our next race, Ottawa Glandorf, because of how high paced the race is and how much fun it is to run,” said junior Dylan Sparks. Athletic events tonight include the Lady Knights’ soccer team hosting Fort Jennings at 5 p.m., and the JV and varsity volleyball teams travelling to Ada to take on the Bulldogs. The JV game will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The music department has been hard at work preparing for the musical Beauty and the Beast. The musical features junior Griffen Waltmire as Beast and sophomore Becca Daugherty as Belle. “Musical is way different this year from last year because now that I have a bigger part, I have more responsibility, but just as much fun! I hope there is a good turnout,” said Daugherty. She encourages the student body to come “be our guest” and enjoy the show on Nov. 13 and 14. Details about tickets will be available closer to the show date.
