Betty Joann George

Betty Joann George, 84, of Van Wert, died at 7:57 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015, at the Cleveland Clinic.

She was born March 17, 1931, in Liberty Township, the daughter of Curtis Baltas and Cynthia (Denman) Brunni, who both preceded her in death. On November 19, 1950, she married Donald Eugene George, who survives.

Survivors include three children, Ann (Steve) Huss of Woodville, JR George of Ohio City and Sandra Uhlmann of Bowling Green; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one stepgrandson.

A sister, Mary Maxine Straw; and one brother, Carl C. Brunni, both preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 24, at Ohio City United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kevin Wilcox and the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
