Community Health Professionals information
Community Health Professionals will host a free “Lunch and Learn” opportunity titled, “Planning for End-of-Life … The Smart Thing to Do” on Wednesday, October 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 1159 Westwood Drive in Van Wert.
The format will be an informal discussion, with presenters from Putman Law Offices, Cowan & Son Funeral Home and CHP Hospice staff.
“When it comes to end-of-life planning, the decisions involved can be overwhelming,” said Tonya Rutledge, RN, nursing supervisor at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center. “We want to help [participants] understand what is involved in putting your affairs in order.”
Topics included in the discussion include: explaining end-of-life planning, understanding hospice care, advance directives and financial planning, and where to start with funeral planning.
Talking about such topics may be a little intimidating to most people, but are important to discuss and will be presented in a non-threatening manner, according to Rutledge.
“End-of-life planning allows a person to make his or her wishes and care preferences known before being faced with a medical crisis,” Rutledge said. “Advance planning is simply smart life planning.”
Attendees will receive a complimentary lunch with pre-registration required by Monday, October 5.
For more information or to register, call Rutledge or Beth Dye at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center, 419.623.7125.
