Jean M. Gibson

Jean M. Gibson, 83, of Convoy, died at 10:28 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Convoy.

She was born December 22, 1931, in Convoy, the daughter of Donald H. “Pete” and Ione D. (Wortz) Hildbold, who both preceded her in death. On October 15, 1950, she married E. William “Bill” Gibson, who died October 28, 2005.

Survivors include three children, Brent A. (Jamie) Gibson of Van Wert, Marcia K. (Gary) Drake of Convoy, and Karen S. (Mike) McClure of Van Wert; seven grandchildren, Andrew Gibson, Jennifer Finegold, Kent Drake, Ashley Baxter, Kade Gibson, Sara Ortiz, and Katie McClure; two stepgrandchildren, Adam and Alex Barnhart; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A son, Bradley M. Gibson, also preceded her in death on September 19, 2005.

Jean worked at her father’s grocery store, the former Pete’s IGA in Convoy, until it sold. She then worked at United National Bank in Convoy before returning to her family’s grocery store, the former Gibson’s Supervalu in Convoy.

She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy, and the Women’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Association at Trinity Lutheran. She was a former member of Eastern Star.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 16, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy, with Pastor Doug Meyer officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, also in Convoy.

Calling hours are an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
