VWHS Theatre Dept. sets season schedule
VWHS Theatre Dept. information
Van Wert High School Theatre Department has announced the productions scheduled for its 2015-2016 season.
The fall play production of Mr. Hobbs’ Vacation, will be performed at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center on Friday, November 20, and Saturday, November 21, starting at 7 p.m. Rehearsals began in September and students are looking forward to sharing this classic three-act comedy written by F. Andrew Leslie and based on the novel by Edward Streeter.

This family-appropriate play takes a look at Hobbs’ family vacation to New England. Their vacation is definitely one to remember as they experience a nightmare of a house, unexpected guests, and some true family bonding. Melissa Bloomfield directs the fall play with assistant director Danielle Slagle. Hugh Saunier, Matt Saunier, and Josh Schumm are technical and set construction directors, while Caitlin Walker and Katey Gamble serve as costuming and make-up designers.
Tickets are currently available from cast and crew members, through the NPAC Box Office starting October 26, and at the door.
Mr. Hobbs’ Vacation is produced by special arrangement with Dramatists’ Play Service in New York City.
On April 7-9, 2016, join Van Wert High School Theatre as it sets sail aboard the largest moving object in the world, the Titanic. VWHS Theatre will present Titanic, the Musical at 7 p.m. on the Niswonger Performing Arts Center stage. Auditions will take place in December and students will begin rehearsals in January 2016 for this musical, based on the events associated with the sinking of the Titanic in 1912.
Join the passengers as they set sail, create relationships, share their visions of living in America, and experience the long final hours before the disaster. Titanic, the Musical will be directed by Miss Melissa Bloomfield and Miss Danielle Slagle along with Bob Sloan as pit orchestra director, Hugh Saunier as technical director, Matt Saunier as lighting director, Josh Schumm as set construction director, Gamble as choreographer, and Walker as costuming and make-up designer.
Tickets for the musical will go on sale in early March, as this is a show Van Wert area residents will not want to miss. Titanic, the Musical is produced by special arrangement with Tams-Whitmark Music Library, Inc. in New York City.
The VWHS Theatre Department hopes to see district residents at the NPAC on November 20 and 21 at the fall play performance, as students create, perform, and inspire the Van Wert community through the theatrical arts.
