Helen L. Klewer

Helen L. Klewer, 93, of Van Wert, died at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born January 2, 1922, in Van Wert, the daughter of Earl and Olga (Wade) Reed, who both preceded her in death. On October 10, 1943, she married Leonard C. “Bud” Klewer, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include four children, Donna Fox of Van Wert, Ronald (Deborah) Klewer of Van Wert, Nancy (Joseph) Elston of Convoy, and Mary Adams of Van Wert; a sister, Virginia Etzler of Convoy; 10 grandchildren, Ryan Fox, Amber Davis, Mark Klewer, Tamara Rager, John Klewer, Joshua Sealscott, Maggie Elston, Jamison Elston, Emily Piacentini, and Nathan Adams; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Two sons-in-law, Larry Fox and Chris Adams; a brother, Paul Reed; and a great-grandchild, also preceded her in death.

Helen was a cashier in local grocery stores for 17 years. She was a member of Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert. Helen will be remembered for her ministry in child evangelism and teaching children in church for over 40 years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 7, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Steve Savage officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 3-7 p.m. Friday, November 6, at the funeral home.
