Ruth R. Shinabery

Ruth R. Shinabery, 88, of Rockford, died at 11:04 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2015, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert, where she was a patient.

She was born January 2, 1927, the daughter of Clarence and Cecil (Wilson) Shock, who both preceded her in death. On May 27, 1950, she married Kenneth R. Shinabery, who died December 10, 2003.

Survivors include two children, Rick Shinabery and Ellen (Ed) Griner, both of Rockford; a grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy (George) Hone of St. Marys and Fae (Jim) Herd of Blairsville, Georgia.

Two brothers, Harold “Buddy” Shock and Dale Shock; and a sister, Berniece Roth, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Craig Cisco officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, and an hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Mercer United Methodist Church.
