William D. Pontius

William D. “Bill” Pontius, 83, of Rockford, died Monday, December 21, 2015, at McLaren McComb Hospital in Mount Clemens, Michigan.

He was born October 3, 1992, in Jackson, Michigan, the son of William Wilbur and Dorothy (Scott) Pontius, who both preceded her in death. On September 5, 1954, he married Margaret E. “Marge” (Stripe) Pontius, who died July 17, 2004.

Survivors include three sons, William Michael (Cindy) Pontius of Fair Haven, Michigan, Richard A. “Dick” (Claudia) Pontius, and Jack L. (Debra) Pontius, both of Rockford; a daughter, Laura Chandler of Pensacola, Florida; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.

A daughter, Jill Pontius; one grandchild, Kathryn Lynn Pontius; one brother, James Pontius; and a sister-in-law, Jean Pontius, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements were handled by Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford.
