VW swim teams lose to Golden Bears

BRYAN — The Van Wert High School boys’ and girls’ swimming teams traveled to Bryan High School to compete in a dual meet. Both Cougar teams lost a hard-fought battle against the Bryan Golden Bears: the girls falling 91-84 and boys 113-56.

Swimmers placing first in individual events included Maddison Jarrett (1-meter diving), Emma Verville (100-yard backstroke), Sam Easley (1-meter diving), and Cade Fleming (200-yard freestyle).

The Cougar girls’ 200-yard medley relay team earned a first place finish; relay members include Verville, Bethany Fast, Peyton Fleming, and Madison Turnwald.

Cougar swimmers will travel to the Putnam County YMCA next Tuesday to compete against Ottawa-Glandorf and St. Marys in a double dual meet.
