Knights’ Jazz Band brings home the gold
By Hannah Bowen

Last Saturday, Crestview’s Jazz Band took home first place best overall band at Bishop Dwenger’s show choir competition. The Jazz Band accompanies Knight Vision at each competition or performance, and they also perform at Pops Concert and Dinner Theatre. “I like competitions better because it is more fun going against other schools and winning trophies,” said junior Ally Fegley. Knight Vision placed fourth at Bishop Dwenger and Isaiah Longwell won best performer.
Many of the high school boys that are not involved in a winter sport at Crestview participate in KBA, or Kingdom Basketball Association. KBA is a Christian boys’ basketball league ran through Van Wert County’s Youth For Christ. There are four KBA teams made up of mostly Crestview students. “My favorite part about KBA is playing against other Crestview teams, especially Adam Saylor’s,” said junior Nick Henry.
Games are held on Sundays at the Goedde Building, Trinity Friends, Praise Point, and the YMCA starting at 2 p.m.
FCCLA Week will take place on Feb. 8-12. FCCLA, or Family Career Community Leaders of America, takes part in service projects and recreational activities. On Monday, FCCLA members will pass out “Kindness Hearts,” or friendly messages, to students. On Tuesday, students can compete in a cupcake-decorating contest during lunch. “Decorating cupcakes is my favorite part of FCCLA Week,” said junior Braden VanCleave, “It’s the most fun day because I get to eat.” On Wednesday, FCCLA members will come in early to cook for the Staff Appreciation Breakfast. On Thursday, students can play a game of matching teachers to their cars, and on Friday, cookiegrams will be distributed to students.
