Last Friday night, Crestview’s Art Club hosted the second annual Empty Bowls Night in the auditeria before the boys’ basketball game against Allen East. There was an art show featuring student work, as well as a dinner including bread, dessert, and bottomless soup. All proceeds from the event were donated to a local food pantry. “It was really great to give back to the community and display our artwork,” said Art Club member Leslie Skelton.

Next Monday is the start of a very popular week at Crestview High School: FFA Week. During FFA Week, students enjoy plenty of food and daily games of cornhole during Ag class and lunch. On Monday, students will enjoy dirt pudding and a hot dog bar. Tuesday is the Chili Cook-off, and Wednesday is Pizza and Wings Day with pizza from D’s on Main Street and wings from Gibson’s Barnyard Barbecue. Thursday is the FFA Breakfast, and Friday is Dessert Day. “I’m excited to start off my day super-great with breakfast on Thursday,” said junior FFA member Tommi Andersen.

Recently, High School Principal Mike Biro granted the senior class a privilege known as the senior lounge. During lunch, high school students typically go to the gym after they eat; however, it can be a very loud environment and students are constantly in danger of being hit with a stray basketball. “I got hit in the head with balls too many times in the gym,” said Andrew Boley. Mr. Biro has opened the study hall during lunch for seniors to work on homework, study, or chat with friends. Last year the seniors had the exclusive perk of carrying backpacks, but now that is available to students of all ages, so the senior lounge serves as a bonus for the class of 2016.
