Evelyn L. Pugh
Evelyn L. Pugh, 80, of Venedocia, died at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born November 24, 1935, in Grover Hill, the daughter of Lloyd and Florence (Ladd) Girod, who both preceded her in death. On August 8, 1954, she married Hugh Owen Pugh, who died May 23, 2014.
Survivors include four children, Owen (Karen) Pugh of Convoy, and Kathy (Bob) McCollow, Bob (Denise) Pugh, and Eric (Jenny) Pugh, all of Venedocia; three sisters-in-law, Dorthea Plikerd of Spencerville, Carolyn Girod of Van Wert, and Linda Girod of Plant City, Florida; eight grandchildren, Chad Pugh, Shonda Marley, Cory McCollow, Peter McCollow, Morgan Pugh, Evan Pugh, Madison Pugh, and Isaiah Pugh; and two great-grandchildren, Kayden and Kale Pugh.
Three brothers, Gary, Daryl, and Carl Girod, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Pugh retired from Van Wert Visiting Nurses Association, where she was a home health aide. She was a housewife and a loving mother and grandmother. In her young days, she spent lots of hours in the dairy barn feeding and milking cows.
She was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church in Venedocia and its Women’s Association, and also belonged to Van Wert County Hospital’s Twig II, the Spencerville Order of Eastern Star chapter, Van Wert County Farm Bureau, the Van Wert Hospital Board, was honored as one of the Peony Festival Ladies in Full Bloom, and was a member of the Van Wert County Farm Focus Board.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, at Salem Presbyterian Church in Venedocia, with the Rev. Tom Emery officiating. Burial will be in Venedocia Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
