Club plans trip to Auburn
By Rex Dolby with Stuart Jewett

The Van Wert Area Photography Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, at 114 S. Race St. Members who made the Wright-Patterson AFB photography trip are invited to bring some of their pictures for the group to see. Others who have pictures they’d like to share, such as eagles or snow, are encouraged to bring those also.
In the business portion Secretary Rex Dolby, will explain why the club needs a proposed amendment to its purpose statement, to satisfy an issue raised by the IRS on the club’s 501(c)(3) application.
Members should note that on Saturday, March 12, we will be making a photo excursion to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum located at 1600 S. Wayne St. in Auburn, Ind. We will meet at McDonalds north in Van Wert at 9:30 a.m., and leave together from there. We would love to have as many photo enthusiasts along as possible, not only for the good conversation on the way up and back, but also because if we have 10 or more in our group the admission price drops from $12.50 per person to $10.50.
The museum building itself served as the International Headquarters of the Auburn Automobile Company from 1930-1936. The site is designated a National Historic Landmark by virtue of its being the place where designers sketched the innovative Auburns and Cords that set the stage for the modern automobile.
The museum is more than a building filled with over 120 significant automobiles dating from the 1890s to the 21st Century and related artifacts. It also contains a wealth of historic information pertaining to the Auburn Automobile Company, Duesenberg, Inc., and the Cord Corporation.
You can always learn something worth knowing when you hang out with other photographers, and it’ll be a fun trip. Why not join us?
