Ruth E. ‘Becky’ Zirkle

Ruth E. “Becky” Zirkle, 95, of Venedocia, died at 9:58 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2016, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born August 13, 1920, in Van Wert, the daughter of Ira and Mary Eleanor (Callahan) Faller, who both preceded her in death. She married Robert P. Zirkle, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Ringwald of Van Wert; and a grandson, David Ringwald of Belvidere, Illinois.

A brother, Wilbur “Tiny” Faller; a son-in-law, James R. “Dick” Ringwald; and two sisters, Esther Placke and Margaret Keltner, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Zirkle was a homemaker and a member of Salem Presbyterian Church in Venedocia.

She was a member of church’s women’s association, Alpha Kappa Sunday School class, the church’s handbell choir, and a former church secretary. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Van Wert, the National Hay Association, a former advisor to the Venedocia Lads & Lassies 4-H Club and was formerly a member of the Van Wert County 4-H Council.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 25, at Salem Presbyterian Church in Venedocia, with the Rev. Thomas Emery officiating. Burial will take place later in Venedocia Cemetery.

Visitation is from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert.
