Dorothy L. Stemen
Dorothy L. Stemen, 79, of Van Wert, died at 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Kindred Care Hospital in Lima.

She was born March 8, 1937, in Van Wert, the daughter of Lewis Harold Johnson and Dorothy M. (Lee) Death, who both preceded her in death. On November 27, 1955, she married Robert L. “Bob” Stemen, who survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include her mother-in-law, Louise Stemen of Van Wert; a son, Don (Cindi) Stemen of Hilliard; two daughters, Cindy Dunn and Sharon (James) Volk, both of Van Wert; one brother, Donald G. (Pat) Johnson of Van Wert; a sister, Carolyn M. Goodwin; 10 grandchildren, Abbey and Alex Stemen, Jessica, Brandon, and Spencer Thompson, Jason Dunn, Danny (Felicia) Dunn, Nathan (Ashley) Dunn, Carrie Dunn, and Kelly Dunn; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Van Wert who volunteered at Bread Bowl and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a 1955 graduate of Van Wert High School.
She spent most of her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and loved watching all the activities they were in. Dorothy loved camping, shopping, and playing cards.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Gus Christo-Baker officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and from 12:15-1 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Preferred memorials: First United Methodist Church.
