Hall of Fame Skills Camp announced

Van Wert High School is sponsoring a Hall of Fame Skills Camp designed for the serious basketball player from any school with a strong desire to see their individual skills develop. The camp is for boys and girls entering grades 8-12. In recent years, many young basketball players spend their time playing just games in the off-season and not working to improve on the necessary fundamentals of the game. This program will offer each player an opportunity to spend quality time learning basketball skills and then participate in individual drills needed to gain both a mental and physical understanding of the game.

The “strictly skills” camp will be directed by Van Wert Head Coach David Froelich, with specific coaching sessions directed by Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame coaches Al Welch of Wayne Trace, Ray Etzler of Convoy and Larry Clark of Lincolnview and Perrysburg high schools. The program will be dedicated to detailed teaching of individual fundamentals. Groups will be small and proper execution will be emphasized. Each technique will be taught step-by-step in great detail.

Instructors will introduce the whole-part, whole-process technique and each player will be drilled repeatedly throughout the session, with an emphasis on teaching individual skills and proper technique and establishing a base of understanding necessary to become a good player at any level on any team.

The fee for the entire program is $50, which is due with the application. All players are welcome even if they have miss a particular session date. Make checks payable to: Van Wert Basketball.
