Tour of vintage studio this week
By Rex Dolby
All paid members of the Van Wert Area Photography Club are reminded to meet at 114 S. Race St. at 5:30 p.m. this Thursday, May 12, to determine drivers and riders for the trip to Ottoville where at 6 p.m. we’ll take a tour of the vintage photography studio above Millie’s Cafe.
The studio was started by Jim Niedecken’s great-grandfather in the 1890’s. He passed it on to Jim’s grandfather, and eventually it became his father’s. His father operated the studio until the mid-50s. All the original equipment is still in place and should provide some interesting subjects to photograph.
Following the tour of the studio, we’ll hold our club meeting at 7 p.m .down stairs at Millie’s (141 W. Canal St.) where we can all enjoy dinner (or whatever) together and discuss what we just experienced.
