OPSB OKs wind farm transmission line

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) on Thursday authorized Paulding Wind Farm III LLC to construct a new 138-kilovolt electric transmission line in Paulding County. The 8.5-mile line, located along the company’s preferred route in Benton and Harrison townships, will deliver energy produced by the Timber Road I and III wind farms to the regional electric grid.

The OPSB also approved an additional wind turbine model, as well as changes to the access road layout and electric collection and interconnection systems for the Timber Road I and III wind farms.

Paulding Wind Farm III, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EDP Renewables North America, estimates the combined 100.8 megawatt wind farm projects will add more than $900,000 to local tax revenues each year for the life of the projects.

The company plans to commence construction soon and begin commercial operation later this year.

In other business, the OPSB approved additional turbine models as turbines suitable for the Greenwich Windpark project in Huron County and the Scioto Ridge Wind Farm project in Hardin and Logan counties.
