Outdoorsmen plan ‘Ladies Day’ at range

VW independent/submitted information

The Van Wert County Outdoorsmen Association will be hosting a “Ladies Day” at the shooting range on Saturday, June 25.

The event is for women seeking instruction in the use of firearms. The class focuses on firearm usage, firearm safety, and how much fun shooting sports can be.

Women and girls age 10 and up are welcome to participate; however, younger girls will need to have a mother or grandmother with them. The class will use .22-caliber rifles and pistols. Participants do not need to bring any equipment unless they have safety glasses or hearing protection, as everything is provided.

There will be two class sessions. The morning session is for women who are new to shooting sports or who do not have their own firearm. The morning begins at 9 a.m. and runs until noon, while the afternoon session begins at 1 p.m. and lasts until 3:30 that afternoon. This session is for women who have their own firearm and seek more instruction on how to use it.

Those who do not have their own firearm may use one of the club’s, while those who bring their own equipment should also bring their own ammunition.

Pre-registration is currently taking place and space is limited; to register, or for more information, call 419.203.9105. There is no cost for the class, which is sponsored by the Van Wert County Outdoorsmen Association and the Friends of the NRA.
