Knight 9 gets sectional win over Antwerp

CONVOY — The Crestview Knight baseball team erased an early lead by Antwerp and went on to win 9-4 in the Division IV Sectional Baseball Tournament held at Crestview.

Antwerp scored two in the top of the first inning and lead 2-1 after one, when the Knights scored a run in the bottom of the inning. Crestview then scored three runs in the second to lead 4-2, while the Archers made it 4-3 in the fourth before the home team put it away with three in the fifth and another two runs in the sixth. Antwerp got another run in the sixth, but it wasn’t enough.

Joey Overmeyer was the winning pitcher for  the Knights, scattering four runs on five hits, while striking out eight and walking none. Alex Delgato took the loss for Antwerp. Delgato gave up four runs on four hits and had no walks or strikeouts.

Offensively for Crestview, Jake Harmon has a home run, a single and 3 RBI, while Josh Staten had a triple and RBI, Overmyer had two singles, a double, and an RBI, Brad Miller had an RBI single and Jacob Wortman hit two singles on the day.

Zac Coleman had a homer, single and two RBI for the Archers.

The Knights will advance to play the winner of the Minster-New Knoxville contest on May 18, starting at 6:45 p.m.
