Fair information for photographers
By Rex Dolby
It’s official! I received a call from the Fair Board office on Wednesday, July 27, that the 2016 Fair Books were in. All the information that follows is taken from page 46, the Dept. Q, Photography section.
The first thing to note is No. 3. “Entrants must fill out an entry form and entries must be registered, with a $22 ticket purchase, at the Van Wert County Fair Board Office (first door on the left if you enter opposite the Junior Fair building) prior to the fair. Entries close Saturday, Aug. 13, at noon.”
Photo classes both in Color and B/W for both Seniors and Juniors (anyone under 18 before Aug. 1, 2016) are: Through the Window, Celebrating Nature, Food Lovers, Celebrating Shapes, and Four Elements.
Entry forms may be found on pages 52 and 53 of the book, or by going to the fair’s web site. Do a search for Van Wert County Fair, click on the top entry, click on 2016 Fair Program Book on the right, wait till the book loads, scroll down watching at the bottom of the pages for 52 or 53, copy or print the page, or simply go to the office and get a book. Either way you have all the information to enter your pictures. Note that there is no penalty for entering more classes than you actually bring pictures for, but you cannot enter any pictures that were not listed on the entry form. Van Wert Area Photography Club members will be on hand Sunday, Aug. 28, from 1-5 to receive your pictures for exhibit. More rules will be published later, or check the fair book or their website.
The Van Wert Area Photography Club has a meeting coming up on Thursday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. It will be held at 114 S. Race St., next to the Civic Theatre.
