Alice J. Wise

Alice J. Wise, 66, of Van Wert, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 1, 2016, in Van Wert. Jesus Christ is the Glory of God the Father.

She was born September 20, 1949, in Duchouquet Township, Auglaize County, the daughter of Charles K. Orchard Jr., who preceded her in death, and Margaret H. Orchard, who survives. On August 30, 1970, she married William H. “Bill” Wise III, who survives in Van Wert. She loved her family, friends, and neighbors, and enjoyed doing for others.

Mrs. Wise was an employee of Century Link/Sprint/United Telephone from 1968 to 1999. She was an employee of Health Pro Medical Billing from 2001-2002, and an employee of Schneider Trucking from 2003-2009. She attended First United Brethren in Christ Church in Van Wert, where she was married. She was a 1967 graduate of Wapakoneta High School and a 2001 graduate of the University of Northwestern Ohio in Lima.

In addition to her mother and husband, survivors include two sons, William Harold (Erica) Wise IV of Indianapolis, Indiana, and John David Wise of Van Wert; a daughter, April Alice Jean Wise of Monroe, Michigan; five grandchildren, Hallie M. Wise and Caleb G. Wise, both of Van Wert, and William H. “Will” Wise V, Kaitlyn C. Wise, and Abigail G. Wise, all of Indianapolis; and one brother, William Lester Orchard of Cridersville.

A brother, Charles K. Orchard Jr., also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, September 9, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Dr. Jody Harr officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery near Spencerville.

Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, September 8, and an hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
