Norman Ward

Norman Ward, 78, of Decatur, Ind., passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at his residence.

He was born in Decatur, Ind., to the late Harley H. and Amanda E. (Neuenschwander) Ward on March 31, 1933. On May 20, 1951, he married Delores (Ginter) Ward, his wife of 60 years, who survives in Decatur.

Mr. Ward attended Decatur Church of God, where he served as an usher for 15 years. He retired in 1995 from Chrysler Corporation as a tool and die maker.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Kenneth G. (Corazon) Ward of Decatur and Keith L. (Brenda) Ward of Wren; two daughters, N. Gayle Ward of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Kendra (Alan) Beard of Convoy; a sister, Joyce (Harry) Moser of Wren; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A twin sister, Norma P. Ward and two other sisters, June Diehl and Elvira Habeggar, as well as a brother, the Rev. Roger H. Ward, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at Decatur Church of God, with Dr. Robert Brink officiating. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home in Decatur.

Preferred memorials: Decatur Church of God or Family Hospice and Palliative Care.
