Dudley B. Stetler

Dudley B. Stetler, 81, of Van Wert, died at 5:23 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born October 16, 1923, in Pleasant Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Fred and Fannie Mae (Krick) Stetler. He married Betty (Basil) Stetler, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include three children, John (Deb) Stetler of Ottoville, Sandra Bea (Dan) Sampson of Harbor Springs, Mich., and Brad Stetler of Van Wert; a sister, Bernice Young of Van Wert; and five grandchildren.

Five brothers, Maurice, Jack, Ben, Bob and Don Stetler, and a sister, Grace Gribler, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. W. Clark Williman officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with graveside military rites performed by the combined hours unit American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the funeral home, where a 40 et 8 memorial service will be held at 7:30 that evening.

Preferred memorial: American Heart Association.
