Old Fashioned Farmers Days here soon

Pack up the kids and spend June 30-July 3 at Old Fashioned Farmers Days. Kids games will be all weekend, with clowns, a Kiddie Tractor Pull, and lots of entertainment (music, juggling, and a polka dance.

One of the big attractions of the weekend is the Draft and Pony Show on Friday evening, with an informative discussion on the various types of harness and what purpose is of each item on a harness. The presentation begins at 5:15 p.m. There will also be a lot of fun activities such as log skidding, obstacle courses and blind man drive.

Starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, there will be the first of two donkey shows: the Old Fashioned Farmers Fun Show, with halter, driving and fun classes such as the “Chicken Race” and “Balloon Race.” The Balloon Race is an Old Fashioned Farmers Days original.

The Midstate Mule and Donkey Society has also scheduled a full day of classes, letting the mules and donkeys do their thing in halter and driving classes. Starting on Sunday at 9 a.m., come see big and little donkeys and mules, featuring animals from the tri-state area. Included will be a costume class, with dressed up donkeys and mules: maybe as a fish, fairy princess or some of the latest fashions in the donkey industry.
