Bids opened for local village projects

The Van Wert County Board of Commissioners opened bids on two village projects during the commissioners’ regular meeting on Thursday.
Bids were opened on a ballfield shelterhouse and restroom addition for Ohio City and a park lighting project in Scott.
Bids were opened first on the Ohio City shelterhouse project, with five bidders bidding on the project. Those bids are as follows:
- Arcon Builders Ltd. — Contract A, $72,000; Contract B, $13,100; Combined bid, $85,183; Alternate Bid A1, $1,228; Alternate Bid A2, $1,878.
- Geuy Construction Company — Contract A, $67,500; Contract B, no bid; Alternate Bid A1, $1,200; Alternate Bid A2, $1,500.
- Miami & Erie Contractors Inc. — Contract A, $58,700; Contract B, $10,000; Combined bid, $68,700; Alternate Bid A1, $1,000; Alternate Bid A2, $1,275.
- Miller Contracting Group Inc. — Contract A, $78,600; Contract B, $12,900; Combined bid, $91,500; Alternate Bid A1, $3,000; Alternate Bid A2, $3,100.
- Shinn Brothers — Contract A, $79,116.15. Contract B, no bid; Alternate Bid A1, $1,300; Alternate Big A2, $3,100.
The engineer’s estimate for Contract A is $72,000, while the estimate for Contract B is $11,500. Estimates for Alternates A1 and A2 are $1,500 and $1,200, respectively.
Bidding for the Scott lighting project are as follows:
- Bender Electrical Contracting of St. Henry — $31,490.
- Overholt Electric of Middle Point — $18,952.
- Paysen Electric of Celina — $31,500.
Engineering estimate for the project is $32,000, with all three bids under that amount.
Consultants for both projects — Mote & Associates on the Ohio City project and Fanning/Howey on the Scott lighting project — will take the bids under advisement and present recommendations to the commissioners.
