{"id":101191,"date":"2018-04-12T06:15:39","date_gmt":"2018-04-12T11:15:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=101191"},"modified":"2018-04-12T06:15:39","modified_gmt":"2018-04-12T11:15:39","slug":"lincolnview-to-play-at-fifth-third-field","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/04\/12\/lincolnview-to-play-at-fifth-third-field\/","title":{"rendered":"Lincolnview to play at Fifth Third Field"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>SCOTT TRUXELL\/<\/strong><em>independent sports editor<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not often that a high school baseball team has a chance to play in a professional stadium, but Lincolnview will enjoy the opportunity this Sunday at Fifth Third Field, the 7,230 seat home of the Class A Dayton Dragons.<\/p>\n<p>The Lancers will face the New Knoxville Rangers, with the first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m. Admission will be free for all fans.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_101190\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-101190\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-101190\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/FifthThirdFieldII.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"197\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-101190\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Fifth Third Field in Dayton will host the Lincolnview Lancers and New Knoxville Rangers on Sunday.<\/strong> <em>Dayton Dragons photo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAfter talking to (principal) Brad Mendenhall, he mentioned how cool it was for his former team to make the trip to Dayton when he used to coach the Lancers,\u201d Lincolnview baseball coach Eric Fishpaw said. \u201cI emailed a member from the Dayton organization and it sort of all fell into place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI then began to search for an opponent to play us down in Dayton,\u201d Fishpaw continued. \u201cCoach Sailer and New Knoxville agreed that his Rangers would play us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The day has been planned for a while, and Fishpaw said it will truly be a day full of baseball.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone is excited \u2013 parents, players, coaches and bat boys,\u201d the coach explained. We will leave at 10 a.m. and head to the University of Dayton first to watch the Flyers play a few innings. We are hoping to see Ethan Kemler\u2019s cousin (Tyler Jones) pitch for Dayton while we are down there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur game is scheduled for 4:00 and we can enter the stadium at 2:45,\u201d Fishpaw added. \u201cWe are hoping the rain will stay away from this game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While it\u2019s a unique opportunity, Fishpaw said he expects things will be business as usual in terms of game preparation and play.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe still approach this game the same as our others,\u201d the coach said. \u201cIt will be a fun environment and opportunity for our program, but our approach will be the same as all the other games.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are bringing all 22 of our players for this experience,\u201d Fishpaw added. \u201cWe do play a conference game on Monday against Bluffton that we will need to be prepared for with our pitching rotation.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SCOTT TRUXELL\/independent sports editor It\u2019s not often that a high school baseball team has a chance to play in a professional stadium, but Lincolnview will enjoy the opportunity this Sunday at Fifth Third Field, the 7,230 seat home of the Class A Dayton Dragons.
