As part of VWDD\u2019s growing brand identity and commitment to its\u00a0community, it is looking to community members for their stories on how VWDD has\u00a0worked in their lives or the lives of those around them.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-99109\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/Van-Wert-County-DD-logo-2-2018.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"132\" \/>\u201cThe intention of our new brand identity is to illustrate that we go beyond our boundaries to\u00a0meet the needs of our community,\u201d said Dr. Stephen Mercer, VWDD business manager. \u201cWe service individuals with disabilities <em>and <\/em>their families &#8212; from birth throughout life. Since we utilize Person Centered Planning, it is important for us to best represent the connection of all parties involved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The stories provided by community members who have been touched by services offered\u00a0through VWDD will be showcased on a new website, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanwertdd.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.vanwertdd.com<\/a>, in a special feature called \u201cWhat\u2019s Your Story.\u201d VWDD case managers will work with families to gain approval and photographs of those individuals being highlighted. The write up will then be posted on the website and shared on social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that highlighting those who have seen success with the services at VWDD and\u00a0sharing their stories of growth, will offer hope and courage to others,\u201d Mercer added. \u201cThose who have been\u00a0through our programs should feel proud. We want them to know that we recognize their\u00a0accomplishments &#8212; and the rest of the world should, too!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The mission of the Van Wert County Board of Developmental Disabilities is to actively pursue quality programs, services, and supports that assist children and adults in achieving their greatest potential and dignity in all life areas: educationally, vocationally, as a family member, and citizen in the community.
