{"id":101456,"date":"2018-04-17T06:58:46","date_gmt":"2018-04-17T11:58:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=101456"},"modified":"2018-04-17T06:58:46","modified_gmt":"2018-04-17T11:58:46","slug":"9-area-businesses-earn-bwc-safety-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/04\/17\/9-area-businesses-earn-bwc-safety-award\/","title":{"rendered":"9 area businesses earn BWC safety award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Nine Van Wert area employers recently earned recognition from the Ohio Bureau of Workers\u2019 Compensation (BWC) for reaching a year without workplace\u00a0injuries or illnesses that kept workers away from work for more than a day.<\/p>\n<p>The employers received BWC\u2019s 100 Percent Award during the Van Wert Area Safety Council\u2019s annual awards ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccolades aside, I\u2019m sure there is no better reward for these employers than to see their employees go home safely to their families after each shift,\u201d said BWC Administrator\/CEO Sarah Morrison. \u201cKeeping workers healthy and productive is the type of commitment that we need to build a culture of safety in every Ohio workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Local employers recognized with the 100 Percent Award include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Acme Machine Automatics<\/li>\n<li>Alexander &amp; Bebout Inc.<\/li>\n<li>Ayers Mechanical Group LLC<\/li>\n<li>Bebout &amp; Houg Roofing &amp; Siding Inc.<\/li>\n<li>City of Delphos<\/li>\n<li>Crestview Local Schools<\/li>\n<li>Delphos Interfaith Thrift Shop<\/li>\n<li>Hearth and Home at Van Wert<\/li>\n<li>Lincolnview Local School District<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Recipients of the 100 Percent Award are among 13 local businesses that received awards. The council also honored employers in three other award categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Special Award for Safety recognizes employers with\u00a0at least 500,000 hours and at least six months without an injury resulting in a day or more away from work.<\/li>\n<li>The Group Award for Safety recognizes employers with the lowest incident rate within their business\/industry type;<\/li>\n<li>The Achievement Award recognizes employers that reduced incident rates from the previous year by 25-percent or more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Van Wert Area Safety Council is one of more than 80 across the state that partner with BWC to educate employers and workers about the importance of workplace safety.
