Dottie Stahl is retiring after 20 years as the American Red Cross volunteer coordinator at Van Wert Hospital. Stahl\u2019s dedication has not only touched the lives of many patients but others who were fortunate to have worked with her.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10258\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10258\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10258 \" style=\"border: 1px solid black\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Dottie-Stahl-retires-7-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"313\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10258\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dottie Stahl<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAs the Van Wert Hospital\u2019s Red Cross coordinator for many years, Dottie Stahl devoted her life to serving with passion and devotion. Dottie exemplifies volunteerism,\u201d says Georgiann Nungester, vice president of Ancillary Services at Van Wert Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Stahl began her tenure volunteering with the Red Cross Blood Services Program and Disaster Services. She served on the Van Wert Chapter of the Red Cross\u2019 Board of Directors for a six-year term before becoming the Red Cross volunteer coordinator at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe Dottie\u2019s success was best exemplified when a retiring doctor asked if he could become a part of Dottie\u2019s program,\u201d says local Red Cross Executive Director Edie Laukhuf. Laukhuf worked with Stahl for nine years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI \u2018inherited\u2019 Dottie when I became the chapter director and she was the best inheritance I have ever had,\u201d Laukhuf added. \u201cShe fulfilled her position with such grace and precision, I am extremely grateful to have been a student under Dottie\u2019s expert guidance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over time, Stahl has expanded the volunteer program at the hospital. Her staff of volunteers serve 14 departments throughout the hospital, as well as Van Wert Medical Services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVan Wert Hospital\u2019s staff, volunteers and board members offer a heartfelt thanks to Dottie for her dedication to the hospital. Her presence will be truly missed,\u201d says Vann Wert Hospital President\/CEO Mark Minick.<\/p>\n<p>Carol Hennis will be assuming the duties of the American Red Cross volunteer coordinator for the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo organization can survive without a foundation,\u201d Hennis said. \u201cDottie has certainly laid that foundation.
