{"id":103063,"date":"2018-05-25T00:04:14","date_gmt":"2018-05-25T05:04:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=103063"},"modified":"2018-05-24T22:07:36","modified_gmt":"2018-05-25T03:07:36","slug":"lady-cougars-do-well-at-regionals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/05\/25\/lady-cougars-do-well-at-regionals\/","title":{"rendered":"Lady Cougars do well at regionals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Van Wert independent sports<\/em><\/p>\n<p>PIQUA &#8212; Van Wert High School junior Tabatha Saam qualified for next week\u2019s track and field state tournament by placing third in the shot put during Thursday\u2019s Division II regionals at Piqua.<\/p>\n<p>Saam had a throw of 37-04.25, while teammate Abby Jackson placed sixth (36-04.75).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-96499\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/VW-Cougars_stacked-copy.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"113\" \/>Megan Braun finished second in the 400 meter dash preliminaries (58.34) to advance to Saturday\u2019s finals, and the 4&#215;200 relay team of Caylee Phillips, Braun, Nicole Clay, and Cassidy Meyers qualified for the regional finals by finishing eighth with a time of 1:49.35.<\/p>\n<p>Phillips, Clay, Julia Springer and Meyers finished seventh in the 4&#215;800 relay with a time of 9:49.10.<\/p>\n<p>Phillips, Braun, Meyers, Springer and Meyers finished fifth in the 4&#215;400 relay with a time of 4:05.93, enough to qualify for the regional finals.<\/p>\n<p>Austin Clay finished sixth in the discus finals (153-07.00), while Eli Rager placed seventh in the long jump finals (20-08.00).
