{"id":105322,"date":"2018-07-31T07:40:16","date_gmt":"2018-07-31T12:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=105322"},"modified":"2018-07-31T07:40:16","modified_gmt":"2018-07-31T12:40:16","slug":"area-employers-receive-state-wc-rebates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/07\/31\/area-employers-receive-state-wc-rebates\/","title":{"rendered":"Area employers receive state WC rebates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n<p>LIMA &#8212; Lima area employers can expect $20.2 million in rebate checks\u00a0from the Ohio Bureau of Workers\u2019 Compensation (BWC), agency officials announced during a visit to Lima.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBWC is pleased to present the region\u2019s employers with $20.2 million they can use to strengthen and grow their businesses,\u201d said Barb Ingram, BWC chief financial officer. \u201cWhile the money is theirs to spend as they see fit, we encourage employers to invest in workplace safety measures that prevent injuries and reduce their workers\u2019 comp costs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The checks are part of a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ohiobureauofworkerscompensation.pr-optout.com\/Tracking.aspx?Data=HHL%3d8096%3a9-%3eLCE1%3c297%408-GLCE17.6&amp;RE=MO&amp;RI=466223&amp;Preview=False&amp;DistributionActionID=20223&amp;Action=Follow+Link\">$1.5 billion rebate<\/a>\u00a0to Ohio employers this summer, BWC\u2019s fourth rebate since 2013 and the agency\u2019s largest in 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>The rebates are possible because of the agency\u2019s healthy investment income, falling claims and prudent fiscal management. The rebate brings workers\u2019 comp savings for all Ohio employers to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ohiobureauofworkerscompensation.pr-optout.com\/Tracking.aspx?Data=HHL%3d8096%3a9-%3eLCE1%3c297%408-GLCE17.6&amp;RE=MO&amp;RI=466223&amp;Preview=False&amp;DistributionActionID=20222&amp;Action=Follow+Link\">$8 billion since 2011<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ingram asked employers to watch their mailboxes for the checks, which BWC is mailing in batches through the end of July. He also\u00a0detailed the totals each of the region\u2019s six counties can expect to receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Allen County: $7,334,675.72<\/li>\n<li>Putnam County: $2,447,585.14<\/li>\n<li>Hancock County: $3,920,035.24<\/li>\n<li>Hardin County: $1,275,472.43<\/li>\n<li>Auglaize County: $3,453,264.21<\/li>\n<li>Van Wert County: $1,787,281.72<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rebate amounts going to individual public employers by county are\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ohiobureauofworkerscompensation.pr-optout.com\/Tracking.aspx?Data=HHL%3d8096%3a9-%3eLCE1%3c297%408-GLCE17.6&amp;RE=MO&amp;RI=466223&amp;Preview=False&amp;DistributionActionID=20221&amp;Action=Follow+Link\">here<\/a>. Rebates for specific private employers are not public record.<\/p>\n<p>Employers that participate in the Group-Retrospective Rating Program will receive checks in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>BWC\u2019s rebate also includes several safety initiatives the agency\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ohiobureauofworkerscompensation.pr-optout.com\/Tracking.aspx?Data=HHL%3d8096%3a9-%3eLCE1%3c297%408-GLCE17.6&amp;RE=MO&amp;RI=466223&amp;Preview=False&amp;DistributionActionID=20220&amp;Action=Follow+Link\">announced last month<\/a>.
