{"id":105489,"date":"2018-08-04T06:39:03","date_gmt":"2018-08-04T11:39:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=105489"},"modified":"2018-08-04T06:39:03","modified_gmt":"2018-08-04T11:39:03","slug":"james-lewis-klinker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2018\/08\/04\/james-lewis-klinker\/","title":{"rendered":"James Lewis Klinker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>James Lewis Klinker, 83, of Van Wert, died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at Vancrest Health Care Center.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_105490\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-105490\" style=\"width: 275px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-105490\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/James-Klinker-obit-photo-8-2018.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"337\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-105490\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>James Lewis Klinker<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a son of Ernest and Alice (Kochert) Klinker, who both preceded him in death.\u00a0On March 24, 1957, he married Alice &#8220;Joan&#8221; Shaw, and she died September 18, 2011.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-8711\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/American-Flag-for-obituaries-6-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"66\" \/>Surviving are two sons, Shawn (Cheryl) Klinker and Eric Klinker, both of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Kyle (Jen) Klinker, Allison (David) Klinker, Gretchen Klinker, Cody Klinker, and Courtney Klinker; a great grandson, Declan Klinker; three brothers, Terry (Linda) Klinker,\u00a0William (Linda) Klinker, and Lynn (Jeanie) Klinker; and a sister, Charlotte McCowan.<\/p>\n<p>A son, Bruce Allen Klinker; one brother, Garth Klinker; and a sister, Beverly Ann Gumm, also preceded him in death.<\/p>\n<p>Jim retired from the former Aeroquip (Eaton) Corporation in Van Wert in 1994 after being 35 years of service.\u00a0He was in the last\u00a0graduating class at\u00a0Union High School in 1952.\u00a0He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958 and was stationed in Korea for most of his service.\u00a0Jim \u00a0was a die-hard Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.\u00a0 He loved his family, all animals, and never met a stranger.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 5, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. William Klinker officiating.\u00a0Burial will follow in Mt.
