For the Ignite 2018-19 season, one of the great names in all of music will add a special spark to this Christmas season: \u201cMichael McDonald: Season of Peace\u201d, presented by US Bank, will grace the Niswonger\u2019s Central Mutual Insurance Stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 8. Tickets area available starting today.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_107025\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-107025\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-107025\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Michael-McDonald-headshot-9-2018.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"339\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-107025\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Michael McDonald<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Share Christmas with McDonald, one of the music world\u2019s most recognizable voices. The critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and five-time Grammy Award-winner is set for the October 12 release of <em>Season of Peace: The Christmas Collection <\/em>on BMG. The album compiles McDonald\u2019s most beloved Christmas recordings, including \u201cWhite Christmas\/Winter Wonderland\u201d (featuring Jonny Lang), \u201cO Holy Night\u201d, \u201cChristmas on the Bayou&#8221;, and \u201cChildren Go Where I Send Thee\u201d (featuring Twinkie Clark), as well as a new version of \u201cWinter Wonderland\u201d featuring special guest Jake Shimabukuro.<\/p>\n<p>With a career that encompasses multiple Grammys, numerous chart successes, and personal and professional accolades, as well as collaborations with some of the world\u2019s most prominent artists, McDonald remains an enduring force in popular music.<\/p>\n<p>Hailing from St. Louis, McDonald arrived in Los Angeles in the early 1970s, honing his talents as a studio musician before becoming an integral part of Steely Dan. In the mid-1970s McDonald was invited to join the Doobie Brothers as the band redefined its sound with McDonald serving as singer, keyboardist, and songwriter on such Top 40 singles as \u201cTakin\u2019 It To The Streets,\u201d \u201cIt Keeps You Runnin\u2019,\u201d \u201cMinute By Minute\u201d, and \u201cWhat A Fool Believes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the \u201980s and \u201990s McDonald\u2019s solo career took off with a string of hits that included \u201cI Keep Forgettin\u2019 (Every Time You\u2019re Near),\u201d \u201cSweet Freedom,\u201d \u201cOn My Own\u201d (with Patti LaBelle), and the Grammy-winning James Ingram duet \u201cYah Mo B There,\u201d plus he co-wrote the Van Halen hit \u201cI\u2019ll Wait.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McDonald has performed with a \u201cwho\u2019s-who\u201d of critically acclaimed artists across a number of genres, including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Joni Mitchell, Vince Gill, and Grizzly Bear.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->McDonald\u2019s forthcoming album, <em>Wide Open<\/em>(out September 15 via BMG), finds him collaborating with a number of special guests, including Warren Haynes, Robben Ford, Marcus Miller, and Branford Marsalis. McDonald\u2019s first album of original material in 17 years, <em>Wide Open<\/em>is comprised largely of material written over a number of years in-between projects, and recorded in McDonald\u2019s Nashville studio with drummer Shannon Forrest (Faith Hill, Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw, Toto) and an extensive cast of Nashville session musicians.<\/p>\n<p>The record follows a trio of albums of R&amp;B and soul covers McDonald recorded for the fabled Motown label, the most recent being 2008\u2019s Soul Speak.<\/p>\n<p>McDonald\u2019s other recent collaborations include his work on the critically acclaimed track \u201cShow You the Way\u201d with multi-genre bassist, singer and producer Thundercat and Kenny Loggins; McDonald performed the song with Thundercat during a surprise guest appearance at Coachella in April. This past spring, McDonald was joined by Solange Knowles, Allen Stone, Lawrence, and members of Snarky Puppy and Vulfpeck at the Okeechobee Music Fest. McDonald continues to tour extensively as a solo artist, with a lengthy run of summer and fall tour dates planned with Loggins and Boz Scaggs.<\/p>\n<p>It will be an epic night of entertainment with one of music\u2019s most accomplished icons.<\/p>\n<p>Along with presenting sponsor US Bank, supporting sponsor for \u201cMichael McDonald: Season of Peace\u201d is Eileen Manken.
