CELINA — The Crestview Knights junior ACME baseball team plated two runs in the\u00a0first inning and held on for\u00a0a hard fought 4-2 victory over Northmont in the regional finals held at Jim Hoess Field in Celina Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

\"\"Knight hurler Isaiah Simerman scattered four hits over six inning, handing the ball over to teammate\u00a0Bryce Richardson in the seventh as\u00a0he slammed the door on Northmont’s rally.<\/p>\n

Crestview scored its first two\u00a0runs when Simerman’s soft liner to right field was misplayed, scoring Nathan Owens and Richardson.\u00a0Northmont cut the lead in half at 2-1 with a single run in the\u00a0third.<\/p>\n

Crestview answered with two more runs in the top of the fifth. Brock Rolsten started the inning with a single and moved to second on an error.\u00a0Key RBI singles\u00a0by Damian Helm and Simerman lifted the Knights to a 4-1 advantage.\u00a0Northmont added a single run in the bottom of the fifth but couldn’t find any holes in the Knight defense for the rest of the game.<\/p>\n

Helm and Simerman each collected three hits in the contest while Adam Schumm added two hits in the 10-hit attack.\u00a0 Crestview is now 20-1 and will\u00a0meet Holland Springfield (Northern Regional champions) on Saturday and Sunday, July 24-25, in a best-of-three series played at Patrick Henry High School.\u00a0 Both start times are 1 p.m.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
