The bill, introduced by Representative Bill Posley (R-Fla.), guarantees that the public debt limit shall not affect timely payment in full of Social Security benefits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe possibility of denying Social Security checks is a betrayal to seniors,\u201d Latta noted. \u201cPresident Obama should focus on cutting frivolous government spending and allowing seniors to keep their retirement money.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow is the time to cut and cap federal spending and balance the budget, so we can prevent future threats on today\u2019s and tomorrow\u2019s seniors,\u201d Latta added.<\/p>\n<p>Last Tuesday, President Obama told CBS News that he \u201ccannot guarantee that those (Social Security) checks go out on August 3 if we haven&#8217;t resolved this issue.
