Participants are not required to have attended a basic self-defense class prior to the advanced class \u2013 however it is recommended.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_29963\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-29963\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29963\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Womens-Self-Defense-class-10-2012.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"253\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29963\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Van Wert County Sheriff&#8217;s Deputy Ed Klausing teaches a woman about self-defense during a previous class.<\/strong>\u00a0<em>VW independent file photo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Class instructors include Rick Busch and Ed Klausing. Busch is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do with many years of experience, including several years of experience teaching martial arts, self-defense, and rape prevention classes and seminars. Klausing is a third-degree black belt and also has experience in teaching various martial arts.<\/p>\n<p>Adult participants should be women and girls ages 13 and older and should wear loose-fitting comfortable clothing. Pre-register by calling the YWCA at 419.238.6639.<\/p>\n<p>General operating hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Thursday; and 8 a.m.-noon on Fridays. The YWCA is closed Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The YWCA is partially funded by the Van Wert County Foundation and is a United Way agency.
