The initiative only applies to a driver license or permit suspension; it does not apply to a commercial driver license or commercial permit suspension.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-76643\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/BMV-logo-5-2016.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"127\" \/>The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) will determine an applicant\u2019s eligibility based on the defined permissible qualifying offenses contained in Ohio Revised Code.<\/p>\n<p>In order to be eligible for reinstatement fee reduction:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants must have completed all court-ordered sanctions related to the eligible offense other than the payment of reinstatement fees.<\/li>\n<li>At least 18 months must have passed since the end of the period of the suspension ordered by the court.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Those able to provide proof of indigence will qualify for a complete amnesty of reinstatement fees.\u00a0As stated in HB336, \u201cindigent&#8221; means a person who is a participant in the supplemental nutrition assistance program administered by the department of job and family services pursuant to section 5101.54 of the Revised Code.<\/p>\n<p>Effective January 31, 2019, to apply, complete BMV form 2829, a BMV Reinstatement Fee Amnesty Application.\u00a0Those eligible may obtain the form at their local deputy registrar, online at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/links.govdelivery.com\/track?type=click&amp;enid=ZWFzPTEmbXNpZD0mYXVpZD0mbWFpbGluZ2lkPTIwMTgxMjA0Ljk4NTY3ODIxJm1lc3NhZ2VpZD1NREItUFJELUJVTC0yMDE4MTIwNC45ODU2NzgyMSZkYXRhYmFzZWlkPTEwMDEmc2VyaWFsPTE3MDk2NTM5JmVtYWlsaWQ9ZWRpdG9yQHZ3aW5kZXBlbmRlbnQuY29tJnVzZXJpZD1lZGl0b3JAdndpbmRlcGVuZGVudC5jb20mdGFyZ2V0aWQ9JmZsPSZtdmlkPSZleHRyYT0mJiY=&amp;&amp;&amp;100&amp;&amp;&amp;http:\/\/www.bmv.ohio.gov\">www.bmv.ohio.gov<\/a>\u00a0or it one can be mailed to them by calling 614.752.7500.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>VW independent\/submitted information COLUMBUS\u00a0&#8212; House Bill 336, the Reinstatement Fee Amnesty Initiative, has created a six-month program for driver license reinstatement fee reduction and waiver for offenders whose driver licenses have been suspended for specific violations.
