Black has been selected the 2018 \u201cTrooper of the Year\u201d at the Van Wert post.<\/p>\n<p>The selection of Trooper Black, 24, is in recognition of outstanding service during 2018.\u00a0 Fellow officers stationed at the Van Wert post, chose Trooper Black based on his leadership abilities, professional ethics, courteous treatment of others, enthusiastic work attitude, and cooperation with supervisors, peers, and the public.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_110868\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-110868\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-110868\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Trooper-Chase-Black-headshot-12-2018.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"202\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-110868\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Chase Black<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_110869\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-110869\" style=\"width: 134px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-110869\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Dispatcher-Shannon-Shephard-headshot-12-2018.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"134\" height=\"202\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-110869\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><strong>Shannon Shephard<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Trooper Black joined the Highway Patrol in 2016 as a member of the 161st class. Originally from Antwerp, Ohio, Trooper Black is a graduate of Antwerp High School.\u00a0 Black has also been awarded the patrol\u2019s criminal patrol and physical fitness awards.<\/p>\n<p>Trooper Black resides in Paulding County.<\/p>\n<p>Radio Dispatcher Shannon L. Shepard has been selected the 2018 \u201cDispatcher of the Year\u201d at the Van Wert dispatch center. Shepard joined the Highway Patrol in 2017 and is assigned to the Van Wert dispatch center.\u00a0 She is a graduate of Van Wert High School.<\/p>\n<p>Shepard, 52, was honored in recognition of her outstanding service over the past year.\u00a0 Supervision and dispatchers chose Shepard based on her technical job knowledge and ability, enthusiastic work attitude, teamwork, and prompt and courteous response to the public\u2019s request for information and assistance.<\/p>\n<p>Shepard and her family reside in Allen County.<\/p>\n<p>Both Black and Shepard are in also contention for district and state honors as \u201cTrooper of the Year\u201d and \u201cDispatcher of the Year\u201d.
