{"id":112607,"date":"2019-01-29T07:42:24","date_gmt":"2019-01-29T12:42:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=112607"},"modified":"2019-01-29T07:42:30","modified_gmt":"2019-01-29T12:42:30","slug":"bmv-creates-license-amnesty-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2019\/01\/29\/bmv-creates-license-amnesty-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"BMV creates license amnesty initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>COLUMBUS&nbsp;&#8212; House Bill 336, the Reinstatement Fee Amnesty Initiative, created a six-month program for driver license reinstatement fee reduction and waiver for offenders whose driver licenses have been suspended for specific violations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"127\" src=\"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/BMV-logo-5-2016.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-76643\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The initiative only applies to a driver license or permit suspension; it does not apply to a commercial driver license or commercial permit suspension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) will determine an applicant\u2019s eligibility based on the defined permissible qualifying offenses contained in Ohio Revised Code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to be eligible for reinstatement fee reduction:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Applicants must have completed all court-ordered sanctions related to the eligible offense other than the payment of reinstatement fees.<\/li><li>At least 18 months must have passed since the end of the period of the suspension ordered by the court. Those able to provide proof of indigence will qualify for a complete amnesty of reinstatement fees.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Effective January 31 to apply, complete BMV form 2829, a BMV Reinstatement Fee Amnesty Application.
