{"id":11326,"date":"2011-07-29T02:57:34","date_gmt":"2011-07-29T07:57:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=11326"},"modified":"2011-07-29T02:58:19","modified_gmt":"2011-07-29T07:58:19","slug":"fbb-purchases-peru-ind-based-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2011\/07\/29\/fbb-purchases-peru-ind-based-bank\/","title":{"rendered":"FBB purchases Peru, Ind.-based bank"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BERNE, Ind. &#8212;<strong> <\/strong>First Bank of Berne, headquartered in Berne, Ind., and AmericanTrust Federal Savings Bank, headquartered in Peru, Ind., jointly announced the signing of a definitive agreement under which First Bank of Berne will purchase most loans and substantially all other banking-related assets and assume all deposits and related liabilities of AmericanTrust.<\/p>\n<p>Under the terms of the Agreement, the Berne-based bank will acquire all three AmericanTrust locations (Peru, Kokomo and Bunker Hill), purchase most of the loans, investments, accrued interest receivable and other banking-related assets with an estimated value of approximately $83 million and assume all the deposits, Federal Home Loan Bank advances and accrued interest payable of approximately $84 million. This transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2011.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-11327\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/First-Bank-of-Berne-logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"87\" \/>\u201cWhile the bank\u2019s name will be changing, our employees\u2019 commitment to providing unmatched customer service will remain the same,\u201d said Donald Cates, president of AmericanTrust. \u201cFirst Bank of Berne will provide expanded product and service opportunities for our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to expand our market presence into north central Indiana,\u201d said First Bank of Berne President\/CEO Kent A.
