Doris J. Showalter, 89, of Van Wert, died at 5:08 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011, at Van Wert Manor.<\/p>\n
She was born July 6, 1922, in Middle Point, the daughter of the late Clifford and Lotta (Myers) Showalter.<\/p>\n
Miss Showalter was a telephone operator for the Middle Point Telephone Company for many years. Also, she was a cook at the Whistle Stop in Middle Point and was a former member of Middle Point Presbyterian Church.<\/p>\n
Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Rick) Say of Van Wert; one sister, Mary McDowell of Van Wert; two grandchildren, Amy (Tommy) Williamson of Van Wert and Jeffery Say of Boulder, Colo.; a great-grandson, Ryne Williamson of Van Wert; and one stepgreat-grandson, Jacob Williamson of Van Wert.<\/p>\n
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Stanley Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point at a later date.<\/strong><\/p>\n Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.<\/strong><\/p>\n Preferred memorials: St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church School Tuition Assistance Program.<\/p>\n
