This week\u2019s Monday Mailbag includes questions about the OHSAA All Tournament team, the NCAA Tournament, the Student Athlete of the Week, the Cleveland Indians<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: Was there an All-Tournament team this year? Doesn\u2019t OHSAA usually have one of those? Name withheld upon request<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A: Good question. I haven\u2019t seen one and the person to ask at OHSAA has been out on vacation. I\u2019ll get an answer when he returns then share the response.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: It\u2019s been a wild NCAA tournament. Who do you think will win it all \u2013 Auburn, Virginia, Texas Tech or Michigan State? Name withheld upon request<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A: Honestly, I would have never guessed any of those teams would be there, perhaps Virginia, but I haven\u2019t been sold on them all season.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My guess might be a byproduct of Big Ten bias, but I\u2019m thinking Michigan State might win the national championship. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regardless, it certainly was a fun weekend to watch basketball. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Q: When is the Student Athlete of the Week feature coming back? Name withheld upon request<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A: Now that the 2019 spring sports season is underway, the Van Wert independent\/Northwest Ohio Welch Trophy Student Athlete of the Week award returns this Friday.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q: Scott \u2013 if my memory is correct, you\u2019re a fan of the Cleveland Indians. I am as well and I\u2019d like your thoughts on this year\u2019s team. Is it going to be a long season? Name withheld upon request<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A: I think the Dolans have made their intentions clear \u2013 they\u2019ve shed a lot of notable names and payroll, and they don\u2019t seem willing to enter bidding wars for anyone, including Francisco Lindor in the future. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, a huge payroll doesn\u2019t guarantee a World Series title, so I\u2019m okay with the team not getting ridiculous when it comes to spending. Then again, you probably can\u2019t have the lowest payroll in the league and expect to win a championship.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As far as this season, it\u2019s young, and the fact that Lindor, Bradley Zimmer and Jason Kipnis are on the disabled list hasn\u2019t helped. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When healthy, this team can probably contend for the American League Central Division title, but that\u2019s not saying much, because the division isn\u2019t exactly a powerhouse. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When everything is said and done, I\u2019m guessing the Indians will win between 80 and 85 games this season.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
