(VWCH photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe are truly grateful to the Van Wert County Foundation for their generosity and commitment to the health of this community,\u201d said Van Wert Hospital President\/CEO Mark Minick. \u201cOur community is fortunate to have such neighbors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are able to do what we do because of the generosity of the foundation\u2019s donors,\u201d said VWCF Executive Secretary Larry Wendel. \u201cThese individuals have given to the foundation for over 80 years. The grant to the hospital is in line with the mission of the foundation by helping members of our community through healthy living.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to supporting the hospital, the Van Wert County Foundation has supported area organizations like Delphos and Van Wert police departments, Van Wert City Parks, YMCA, YWCA and music programs in Van Wert, Crestview, Lincolnview and Delphos schools.<\/p>\n<p>The new Emergency Services Department was completed in June 2010. The 12,000 square-foot expansion, designed with patients in mind, added 11 private emergency rooms, a secluded triage area and a covered entrance. The Emergency Services Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and staffed by board certified physicians. \u00a0The staff treats emergencies ranging from minor to major trauma. Since opening, the Emergency Services Department has cared for nearly 16,000 patients.<\/p>\n<p>An additional $2.4 million is still needed.
