{"id":119881,"date":"2019-07-02T07:04:11","date_gmt":"2019-07-02T12:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=119881"},"modified":"2019-07-02T07:05:33","modified_gmt":"2019-07-02T12:05:33","slug":"patrol-still-focused-on-impaired-drivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2019\/07\/02\/patrol-still-focused-on-impaired-drivers\/","title":{"rendered":"Patrol still focused on impaired drivers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>VW independent\/submitted information<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of the Oho State Highway Patrol\u2019s ongoing effort to make Ohio\u2019s roadways safer, troopers are continuing to focus on impaired driving enforcement.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"121\" height=\"160\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/osplogo.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2340\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>During the first five months of 2019, troopers have made more than 10,000 arrests for impaired driving, resulting in 22 fewer OVI-related fatal crashes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, there were 13,364 OVI-related crashes on Ohio roadways, killing 402 people and injuring 7,811 others. During that same period, troopers removed more than 26,600 impaired drivers from Ohio roadways&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t fight the battle against impaired driving on our own \u2013 we need your commitment to make our roads safe,\u201d said Lt.
