Moshier, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Van Wert County Coroner’s Office and his body was transported to the Lucas County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy, according to Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas M. Riggenbach.

According to investigating deputies from the county sheriff’s office, a 2008 Ford F-150 pickup driven west on U.S. 224 by Ronald F. Schumm, 21, of Willshire, apparently went left of center, first hitting a 2011 GMC Sierra driven by Jason A. Peters, 45, of Auburn, Indiana, and then smashing into the driver’s front side of Moshier’s 2017 Dodge 1500 pickup.

The Sierra stopped on the north side of the highway in the grass, and was driven away from the scene by the owner, who was not injured. The Dodge came to rest in the yard of a residence on the south side of U.S. 224, while the Ford F-150 came to rest along the north side of the highway. Both the Dodge and Ford pickups sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene.

An unnamed passenger in Moshier’s vehicle was taken to Van Wert Health by the Van Wert EMS with what was likely minor injuries. Schumm was also taken to Van Wert Health with what was suspected as minor injuries.

All three drivers and the passenger were wearing their seatbelts, while alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The accident investigation is continuing.

Assisting the sheriff’s office at the scene, in addition to Van Wert EMS, were Wren Fire and EMS, Willshire Fire Department, Ohio City Fire and EMS, the Van Wert County Emergency Management Agency, and the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

VW independent/submitted information WREN — A Wellston man was killed in a three-vehicle accident that occurred Friday morning on U.S. 224 east of Kings Church Road and north of the village of Wren.
