{"id":12094,"date":"2011-08-16T03:40:59","date_gmt":"2011-08-16T08:40:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/?p=12094"},"modified":"2011-08-16T15:34:09","modified_gmt":"2011-08-16T20:34:09","slug":"wbesc-selling-van-wert-office-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2011\/08\/16\/wbesc-selling-van-wert-office-building\/","title":{"rendered":"WBESC selling Van Wert office building"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Van Wert independent<\/strong><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Western Buckeye Educational Service Center is hoping to cut costs to better maintain local educational services, and a key component in those efforts is the sale of the WBESC\u2019s office building on Lincoln Highway east of Van Wert.<\/p>\n<p>Superintendent Brian Gerber said the building has been underutilized for some time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were not using that building to its capacity,\u201d Gerber said, noting that there were often times when there were just three staff members in the building.<\/p>\n<p>Gerber stressed, though that the WBESC would still maintain a presence in Van Wert, but would move its operations to the Thomas Edison Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do so much with the preschool program at TE,\u201d the WBESC superintendent said, adding that relocation to the North Franklin Street facility is a natural progression for the local ESC operation. \u201cWe\u2019re still going to maintain services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Selling the building, Gerber noted, would help the WBESC\u2019s bottom line tremendously. \u201cIf we sell, we don\u2019t have the expense of utilities, snow removal, mowing,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>The building, located at 10730 Lincoln Highway west of Van Wert, is modern and would make a good office location or small business site.
