{"id":123765,"date":"2019-10-14T19:40:07","date_gmt":"2019-10-15T00:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/?p=123765"},"modified":"2019-10-14T19:40:14","modified_gmt":"2019-10-15T00:40:14","slug":"richard-fickert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thevwindependent.com\/news\/2019\/10\/14\/richard-fickert\/","title":{"rendered":"Richard Fickert"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Richard \u201cDick\u201d Fickert, 76, of Rockford, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 12, 2019, at the Laurels of Shane Hill, where he had been a patient.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was born September 9, 1943, in Decatur, Indiana, the son of Roma \u201cRed\u201d and Helen (Case) Fickert, who both preceded him in death. On August 21, 1965, he married the former Virginia \u201cGini\u201d Hofmann, who survives in Rockford.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"125\" height=\"66\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/American-Flag-for-obituaries-6-2011.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8711\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Other survivors include a son, Ron (Sherry) Fickert of Houston (Ohio); three grandsons; four great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Dianne (Alan) Schott of Willshire and Karen (Rob) Egley of Decatur, Indiana; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A son, Todd Fickert, also preceded him in death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 17, at St. John\u2019s Lutheran Church in Celina, with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Gramza officiating.
