The home sustained&nbsp;heavy damage and left one occupant homeless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"545\" height=\"354\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thevwindependent.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Liberty-Street-house-fire-1-1-20.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-126419\"\/><figcaption><strong>The Van Wert County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is seeking donations to help a man made homeless following a house fire on Liberty Street in Van Wert on New Year&#8217;s Day.<\/strong> <em>CERT photo<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>CERT met with the male occupant and determined that the following assistance is needed. Smoke and water damage to bedding, couch, chair, TV, and other household items.  Clothing items needed are as follows &#8212; Pants size 36-38 waist, 30 inseam; shirt size XL; shoe size 10\u00bd; and coat size XL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All clothing donations can be dropped off to The Salvation Army Thrift Store, 1116 S. Washington St. under the name Gurtner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monetary&nbsp;donations for personal belongings can be dropped off to The Van Wert County Foundation, 138 E. Main St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Household donations can be called into the EMA office to Rick McCoy at 419.238.1300.
