This first-time event was very successful, as over 200 community members were in attendance. The Chamber of Commerce plans on continuing this new tradition and is scheduling another event for the community within the next year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><em>Dave\u00a0Mosier\/Van\u00a0Wert\u00a0independent<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Star-Spangled Banner\u201d was sung by local a capella men\u2019s group The Merry Gentlemen, Van Wert Mayor Ken Markward; Van Wert County Regional Airport Manager Steve Bailey and his wife, Jill; Chamber of Commerce President Mark Verville and his son, Ben; and Chamber of Commerce Office Administrator Brandy Leiber and her son, Preston, dropped the puck to start the game between the Toledo Mudhens and Fort Wayne Komets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proceeds from the event were split equally between the Chamber and the airport, with the airport\u2019s share of proceeds going to support its airport expansion project.
